Epic fail!

So the DOR was wrangling a ride on Sunday morning.  She was wearing her favorite pair of jeans, they are several years old and very soft.  When they arrived to the spot where breakfast was being served she made an embarrassing discovery...her pants ripped along the back pocket.  EPIC FAIL, as Mushboy would say. It is a good thing that she always carries a fancy bandanna in her hip pocket.  She was able to use it to cleverly hide the rip.
I am glad I was not there, I would have been in so much trouble.  I would have been laughing my hooves off for the rest of the day.  In fact I still giggle just thinking about it.
The DOR will no longer be buying jeans that have spandex in them.  While they are nice and comfy to ride in, the spandex eventually fails and that results in a rip-usually in an embarrassing spot at an embarrassing time.
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR!

DOR the Wrangler

The DOR went up to our favorite mountain and played Faux Wrangler for four days.  She rode this big guy.  His name is Lucky and he is part of a team that pulls some of the wagons.  He was ridden for a bit ten years ago.  He is such a sweet, smart, and kind guy that he has now been restarted under saddle to be a guest horse.
Lucky was subjected to the DOR's antics.  She and lucky were the big caboose on the rides.  While there she flapped like a chicken, swung her legs around, waved all kinds of stuff, leaned like a trunk, and made silly noises...all with the intent of disconcerting poor Lucky.  At first he was upset, then he just decided that she was nuts.
The DOR is going to ride him every time she is up at the mountain, unless I go with her, so that he will be a wonderful guest horse soon.
Wait until I tell you about her epic fail!
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR!

Faux Wrangler

The DOR leaves tomorrow morning for the mountain.  She is going to help wrangle rides for the weekend.
She loves this place for lots of reasons.  This is where I did my serious rehab that returned me to her happy and whole.  She also thinks this is one of the most beautiful office spaces in the world.  The mountain also helps her to center her soul.
I wish I was going with her, you see I love the mountain as much as she does-maybe more.
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR!

Happy Birthday Boogie

Boogie has turned 12!
As I celebrate this milestone in his life I reflect back on our time together.
We have had amazing adventures and will have many more in the future.  While there have been some bumps and bruises along the way, I would not change a single thing.
He is the horse of my dreams, my heart horse, and I know that he will always do his best to keep me safe no matter what we are doing.
I am enjoying this part of my life and 'The Life That Jack Built'
Happy Birthday sweet Boogie!
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR!

Not an appy camper

The DOR took me down to the arena to play for a bit. After we were done she tied me up to a post to wait for the farrier.  It looks like the wait will go just fine, but looks are deceiving.
I didn't want to wait patiently, I didn't want to wait impatiently, I did not want to wait at all!
Now you think with all my experience I would be a good waiter.  Usually I am a patient waiter.  I spent hours tied to a hitching post last year, no problem.  I spent lots of time on the high-line at trail horse boot camp-I would say no sweat, but it was hot and I did sweat a lot while I patiently waited.  So what was so difficult about today you ask?  I have one word for you MARES!
The mares are in the pasture right next to mine now.  They look and smell so good!  I spend a lot of time just giving them moony eyes.  They all love me because I give good neck scritches over the fence.  So there I am tied up with no mares.  I called and called to them so they would not forget me or think I had abandoned them.
The farrier arrived and I was a good boy for her.  Well as good as I could be considering I had mares to moon over.  I got my dancing shoes on and then the DOR lead me back to my pasture.  When I got to the gate Hanna was there waiting for me.  She woofled to me and we snuck in a couple of smooches while the DOR was opening the gate to my pasture (I would not have complained if she had put me in with the mares).  The DOR made an ugly donkey face when she caught us smooching saying, "Yuck Boogie, quit kissing your sister!"
Humans are so silly sometimes.  Don't they know that you should let the ones you love know it?

Mixed Bag

It was farrier day this weekend.  Tahkoe was good about getting caught in the big pasture.  She also got her feet done like a big girl out in the pasture and did not need to have a wall on one side to feel secure.  She even followed the DOR around for a bit after she was turned loose.
This evening she even came over for scritches.  She is growing up.

The Mighty Q started out good.  He even stood for the farrier with his rope looped around a panel while the farrier trimmed his feet.  When it came time to rasp, or maybe it was the camera, he decided it was time to scoot out of there.  He pulled a few more shenanigans and then settled down.

He then went to work getting ready for endurance riding.  He trotted and loped for one hour straight and it only took him three minutes to recover.  That boy has lungs!
I am getting my dancing shoes on Friday.  I will be heading to the hills and showing some green horses how it is done.  The DOR and I will also be starting dressage lessons.  We are going to do a show in July...it is on her bucket list.
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR!
