Quote for the week

Tack provides you a method of communication, it is not intended as tools for control.

When a rider forgets that the point of a saddle, bridle, and other tack is to communicate with their horse problems arise. It is a fool that thinks there is anything they can put on a horse that will allow them to "control" a horse without the horse eventually rebelling against their control.
Humans and horses need to build a relationship based on understanding and clear communication. When that happens, becoming highly developed, the tack will become unnecessary.
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR!

Truer words...it's unfortunate that the first thing people opt to change is the tack [and not what they're doing] when problems arise.

I just saw a string of horses working the beach at Ocean Shores on the Washington coast. For $25 an hour they take everything from kids to adults on guided rides along the shore. Not a life for Cactus Jack Splash for sure. - Margy

Wonderful! I always had this idea (even as a young girl with a trainer who liked bigger and heavier bits) that you should be able to ride your horse with the lightest gear possible.
